Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid from the hemp plant. The plant can produce more than 100 different cannabinoids, whereby the intoxicating tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is probably the best-known cannabinoid. CBD, on the other hand, has no intoxicating effect and has increasingly become the focus of scientific attention in recent years due to its broad spectrum of effects.
Medical CBD is extracted from THC-rich cannabis plants, while hemp plants (industrial hemp), which only contain small traces of THC, are used for the production of cosmetic products.
Only hemp plants grown in the European Union (EU) are used to produce the high-quality CBD isolate. The gentle CO2 extraction process is used to dissolve the valuable components of the plant. The resulting extract contains not only CBD, but also all the other ingredients of the plant, such as other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and plant waxes. Modern flash chromatography is used to separate these out. Firstly, the extract is separated into its individual components. As each chemical compound has a different molecular weight, CBD can be separated from the other substances.
Winterisation and distillation processes are then used to remove any residual substances, leaving a highly concentrated, pure CBD. The result is a CBD isolate with a purity of between 98 and 99.5 per cent.
How CBD works
International studies have shown that CBD has a wide-ranging effect profile and is able to stimulate the body's own cannabinoid system in the skin in a variety of ways and promote homeostasis.
Topical CBD formulations can
-
support the regeneration of the skin barrier,
-
influence the antioxidant defence system,
-
inhibit excessive sebum production and
-
anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects.
The use of tropical CBD is described as particularly beneficial for skin diseases with barrier disorders such as neurodermatitis or psoriasis as well as inflammatory skin diseases such as acne or rosacea.

Aloe vera (Echte Aloe) is a medicinal plant and is highly valued for its many different effects. A distinction is made between aloe vera gel and aloe vera juice. The gel is the pulp of the crushed leaves and is rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements and other valuable ingredients. However, the gel contains aloin, a laxative substance that is eliminated during the conversion to aloe vera juice.
The following properties are attributed to aloe vera juice in cosmetic products:
-
cooling & soothing
-
moisturising
-
soothing & regenerating
Aloe vera is also used in the treatment of eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and acne. Accordingly, the natural active ingredient can be particularly useful for sensitive, dry and irritated skin.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol) is an extremely powerful antioxidant that can protect the skin from free radicals. Free radicals are aggressive molecules that are continuously produced during natural metabolic processes in the body. They are constantly on the lookout for reaction partners and destroy skin lipids, cell membranes and proteins, among other things. As a result, the skin is weakened, wrinkles appear and the skin looks dull. Vitamin E supports the natural function of the skin barrier by moisturising the horny layer.
Vitamin E can also promote the formation of new skin cells and is therefore often referred to as an ‘anti-ageing vitamin’.
Properties of vitamin E:
-
moisturising
-
strongly antioxidant
-
protective & strengthening

Squalane is a main component of sebum, making up around 15 percent of the skin, and is a transparent, completely odorless substance. Squalane is increasingly being used in cosmetic products because it is very easy to spread on the skin, prevents the oxidation of the skin's own fats, protects the skin from moisture loss, and makes the skin feel silky.
Squalane used to be made from shark liver (“squalus” means “shark” in Latin). Today, it is extracted from olive press residues and converted into squalane for cosmetic products, since squalane, as an unsaturated fatty acid, is not oxidation-stable.
Squalane can ensure that
-
the skin does not dry out,
-
forms a hydro-lipid film on the skin,
-
Relieves dryness wrinkles,
-
that the skin’s own fats do not oxidize,
-
protects the skin from free radicals
-
and ensure a pleasant feeling on the skin.
Shea butter is extracted from the fruits of the shea tree, more precisely from the kernels of the fruits (shea nuts), which are full of valuable ingredients such as vitamin E, beta-carotene, triterpenes, allantoin and unsaturated fatty acids. This natural composition can regulate the moisture content of the skin and cause a moisturizing, soothing and smoothing effect. The lipid barrier of the cornea is strengthened, which is why shea butter is ideal for the care of dry, neurodermatitis and damaged skin . Shea butter is also well tolerated, relaxes irritated and stressed skin and creates a supple skin feeling.
All advantages at a glance:
-
moisturizing & protective
-
Moisture-binding & circulation-stimulating
-
relaxing & calming
-
very well tolerated
-
intensively nourishing & antioxidant

Hyaluron is a substance produced naturally in the body and is an important component of connective tissue. Short, medium and long-chain hyaluronic acid can be used in cosmetic products, whereby the lower the molecular mass, the deeper the hyaluronic acid penetrates into the skin.
In the CBD Day & Night Cream, the salt of hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate) was added, which has a very low molecular mass and can penetrate even into the deeper layers of the skin.
Hyaluronic acid is the ultimate anti-aging ingredient and can fill and support connective tissue by binding large amounts of water, thus ensuring skin firmness.

Hemp seed oil is an exclusive ingredient in the CBD Night Cream. The oil is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant, which do not contain cannabinoids but are rich in vitamins such as vitamin E, B1 and B2, beta-carotene and minerals. In addition, the seeds contain the essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in an optimal ratio.
This makes hemp seed oil an optimal beauty booster as it can trigger antioxidant effects and provide moisture.
Jojoba oil is extracted from the seeds of the small shrub Simmondsia Chinensis. It is said that one of the secrets of Korean women's youthful and silky skin is due to the jojoba extract. Unlike other oils, jojoba oil does not leave the skin feeling greasy as it can penetrate deep into the skin and form a protective barrier. For oily skin, jojoba oil can help regulate sebum production.
In addition, jojoba oil is very moisturizing and can plump up dry skin. Due to its high content of antioxidants such as vitamins A, B and E, the oil can also help the skin fight free radicals and smooth fine lines.
Advantages at a glance:
-
moisturizing
-
antioxidant
-
supports skin elasticity
-
very well tolerated
-
suitable for dry, stressed and itchy skin
-
applicable for small redness, light acne or pigment spots
